A relative latecomer internationally, Peter Fröjdfeldt was considered number two in Sweden behind Anders Frisk until the latter stopped his career after receiving (death) threats in 2005. Frojdfeldt made a great impression in a relatively short time from 2001 till the end of 2008, when he reached the retirement age of 45.

bandy

The Swede, who was a first division bandy player (a kind of ice hockey played with a ball made out of rope), decided to become a football referee after his father-in-law asked him to referee a football match in a minor league.

In 1997 he had his debut in the highest Swedish league, the Allswenskan and steadily made his way to the top. To his and Sweden's surprise, he wasn't selected for the World Championships in 2006.

ladder

Peter Fröjdfeldt started his international career in 2001 and has been active in the UEFA Cup and Champions League matches ever since. Starting with one game a season, he now is a regular face on the international fields.

average

Fröjdfeldt, who was voted best referee in Sweden in 2005, has an average of 3,4
bookings per match. The highest stage he reached in the Champions League was the quarter-finals in 2006, the match Arsenal vs Juventus when he sent off 2 Juventus players. Very unusual for him

2008

EURO 2008 in Austria/Switzerland was his first and last big tournament He took charge of three matches: two in the group stage and a quarter final. He ended up the best referee of the tournament according to WorldReferee.com with an 8,2 average.

And Frojdfeldt was the number one in 2008 on the Worldreferee list.
