This time the French were going for it, showing the world how good they are. France was going to win against the relatively weak team of South Africa.
Until the goal keeper made a grave mistake and South Africa scored.
And Gourcuff was red carded because he put his elbow in a face.
And the South Africans scored again.
But in the second half the momentum was gone and the French took over. Halfheartedly. This match was at least 20 minutes too long, the players looked tired and sick of it.
I'm happy for the South Africans, finally they managed a win, but they didn't go all out, kept 6 players in the defense against the aging Henry.
Both teams can go home now and France should try again in 4 years with a new coach and a new team.
You'd almost forget that there was a referee as well. Oscar Ruiz was right with his red card, but he didn't do much else. At times it was as if Ruiz didn't want to whistle at all. He could have shown some yellow, sure, but is that what we want? They're all going home, it doesn't matter.
