If there ever was a match with two different halfs, this was the one. In the first 45 minutes Ajax was the only team playing (but failing to score) and Germany's Herbert Fandel had nothing much to do, except warning a player a few times (Ajax' Vermaelen).

The second half was different, Kopenhagen scored twice and Fandel had to book 4 players. The fist one, Allback, not for a serious foul but as a warning for the whole Danish team. A collective yellow card, then, but given to an individual player. One who has to take this booking with him to the next match.

Number two

Herbet Fandel, considered Germany's number two - until Marcus Merk resigns, maybe - did a few things well. He waited long before booking, because it wasn't that kind of match and he didn't fall for Silberbauer's dive after the Dane came eye to eye with the Dutch goalkeeper. But Fandel showed himself as a very strickt, rule-abiding referee: the ball had to be absolutely motionless before a free kick could be taken and protesting players got booked. And he didn't see a hands ball by a Danish defender at the edge of the penalty box.
