Could quite easily have sent someone off in that dust up given the reactions of the players, and I suspect most at the WC would have, but correctly just showed them both a YC for their trouble.

The same goes for his handling of the Slovakian GK, who was falling down injured all the time. So, so great to see Webb go over to him and tell him in no uncertain terms to get up. Yes, he was touched, but it wasn't worth the theatrics that followed. So many referees would have seen the Italian do that and run in brandishing a YC, resulting in more players trying the same. Similarly, as the game wore on and a couple more Slovaks tried to waste seconds by picking up mysterious injuries, Webb was having none of it. So, so refreshing to see.
