UEFA Cup 2006 - 2007 1st round · 2006-09-14 Referee: Brage Sandmoen

emotions

i.g

For instance the penalty for Feyenoord in extra time and the no-penalty for Lokomotiv - just a free kick on the line of the box only. The fans were red hot and threw things at Sandmoen. Feyenoord's clearly wasn't a penalty, easy to say for yours truly who has got a hard disc recorder and can play it back as many times as he likes at a different speed. Whatever it was, the Bulgarians turned out to be a team of ham actors, a thing Sandmoen didn't like and that might have accounted for him favouring Feyenoord.

Then

Then as if realizing he probably went a littlle too far with his emotions, Sandmoen swiched sides for a while, giving Lokomotiv the benfit of the doubt every time until he thought it was enough. Or so it seemed, probably Sandmoen believes he did everything according the rules of neutrality.

match

Lokomotiv walked over Feyenoord as if they were a bunch of amateurs from the Far Oer. However, after two goals they started to stall. Seven times a Bulgarian player rolled over the ground for more than a minute screeming blue murder after being touched slightly by an opponent. Sandmoen didn't fall for it and added 9 minutes extra time in total which was just enough for Feyenoord to even the score.
