Spain 2 - 0 Honduras
WC 2010 group stage · 2010-06-21 Referee: Yuichi Nishimura

Relaxed

Things

The game wasn't so difficult but there are some things to remark on. Nishimura was probably correct when booking, but there were one or two actions that would probably have deserved a yellow card from the referee. It was also the Villa action: Villa slapped an opponent after he had stepped on him (this comes from Villa words to the referee when the Hondurans started complaining, at least what I could read from Villa´s mouth). Case, it was a stupid action because Nishimura could have sent him off. The Japanese didn't see, or didn't want to show a red. Probably, a mistake.

Penalty

Spain claimed the referee should have concede two penalties because of apparent handballs... I think both of them weren't intentional. Nothing to say about the conceded penalty: there was a clear foul, and Nishimura was OK. Spain wasted it, but the 2-0 puts their qualification to the next round in their own hands.
