England 0 - 0 Algeria
WC 2010 group stage · 2010-06-18 Referee: Ravshan Irmatov

Terrible game, not the referee

Virtues

Irmatov is agile, fast... He´s always around the ball, but not too close, so he´s always very well located. He runs the field very criteriously, and also uses cards with good sense. Today, this one was a boring game... players didn't attack, didn't defend... Almost didn't play. So they didn't commit hard fouls. This situation helped Irmatov, but he was OK when whistling, just warning most of times, and showing 2 yellow cards, both properly. He could have shown one more yellow in a dangerous action where an Algerian went with his leg too high... Could be. But nothing really important.

Easy game

Irmatov has his own authority, and players seem to respect him, maybe because he´s not wrong very often. At least, this was what happened today. His assistants were OK too. No very difficult actions for them either.

SOS

While watching this game, I was wondering... Where are the English? Don´t they have a better attacker than Heskey? Why did every Lampard shot today go no less than 3 metres wide from the goal? Why did Rooney show such a low concentration? Algeria tried to play and, without doing anything dangerous, looked more ordered than England. In such a boring game as this one was, another virtue of Irmatov was having stayed awake.
