England 2 - 0 Trinidad and Tobago
WC 2006 group stage · 2006-06-15 Referee: Toru Kamikawa

Last world cup match?

Slow

Overall the match wasn't much fun to watch. TnT tried to slow down the game. England controlled for most of the game, but Crouch and others missed countless good opportunities, raising Trinidad's hopes of holding its second straight favorite to a 0-0 draw. It cost TnT 5 yellow bookings against 1 booking for England's Lampard. Most bookings seemed correct. All around the stadium there was symphaty for TnT, but they didn't create a second stunt.

Mistakes

England did not have the power to speed up the game. In the 83rd minute Crouch scored England's first goal. Television replays showed Crouch pulling at the dreadlocks of defender Brent Sancho as he jumped to head in the David Beckham cross and despite the protests of Sancho, referee Kamikawa pointed to the kick-off spot indicating the goal was good. In stoppage time Kamikawa disallowed a goal scored by Stern John. It was a decision, many felt, that should have gone the way of TnT but as his decisions throughout the match proved, Kamikawa was not giving anything to the World Cup debutants.
