England (w) 2 - 1 Netherlands (w)
Euro 2009 (women) 1/2 finals · 2009-09-06 Referee: Gyöngyi Krisztina Gaál

a semi-final

Sure

you have to tweak your standards a little: not all players were professionals, some students, some mums, some 30, some under 20, still this was a European Championship semi-final.
The play was almost non-aggressive, I counted 5 fouls, maybe 1 body check, an easy match for any referee, but Gyongyi Gaal managed to miss two or three bad fouls (if you can speak of bad fouling in women's football) and a clear hands-ball in the Dutch box. Both Gaal and her assistant missed it.
Thus even though the match was an easy one and play was not mean and everybody was nice to each other, this was a semi-final and semi-finals need good referees.

match

The English tried and tried and finally scored. The Dutch defended, checked, kicked away the ball, came 1-0 behind and suddenly executed a great counter and scored immediately. Why didn't they do that more often?
