Larrionda started well, concentrated, doing it OK. During the first 20-30 minutes almost every calls were well conceded. He showed 2 yellows to Estudiantes players after hard actions, which was OK. His assistants helped him, doing a very good job.

But not

But Larrionda allowed things he generally doesn´t. A Brazilian player hit Verón using his elbow... and the referee gave a free kick to ... Cruzeiro. It was a red card action, but... nobody saw it. There were at least two or three penalties each, but in South America - also in Europe - players seem to be allowed to hold themselves inside penalty areas and nothing happens. Larrionda should have also showed more yellows.

So, now

Larrionda used to show from the beginning of the match that he was not going to tolerate tricking or dirty game. This time he didn´t do that, and the players took advantage of it. Now, Cruzeiro waits for Estudiantes in Belo Horizonte, after obtaining a very important 0-0 here in La Plata.
