Halfway the first half, Dutch player Van Bommel - who has a reputation for foul play - elbowed Grindheim in the face. Did Baskakov see it? The Russian referee did nothing, no reaction at all. A minute or so later Grindheim kicked Van Bommel from behind, Baskakov immediate pulled his yellow card. Ah! But he did see the elbow, he just didn't think it was bad enough and he knew exactly what was going to happen. Baskakov, the old hand, you can't fool him.
That was a legitimate goal, just after the ref had whistled for off side. But no one complained; Holland had already qualified and it was raining cats and dogs.
Yeah, well, the Dutch can consider the rest of their qualifiers as friendlies. Why Norway didn't try harder beats me.
