Of course these two teams are not English at all: Spaniards, Eastern Europeans, Dutch, Brazilians. The coaches aren't English and neither is the money behind the clubs English. Perhaps you could call this real global football. There are no countries anymore, just teams. Anyway, the fans don't seem to care and the match was pretty exciting. Claus Bo was very lenient and it worked. Maybe, sure, he could have shown more yellow, he could have stopped play more often, but he didn't and I trust him.
Supercoach Hiddink must have told his star Essien not to bother about the game, but simply stop Liverpool star Gerrard from playing. Hiddink knows his opponent and knows how to fight him. Liverpool is no good without Gerrard and the coach doen't have the intelligence to chance his team quickly. Maybe next week it will be different.
Hiddink probably could win with any team. If he coached Ulan Bator against Chelsea, the Mongols would win the match.
