Everyone wanted to win ... players, fans, coaches. With only 2 games of the Uruguayan Cup remaining, both teams had possibilities of winning the tournament. From the beginning, this meant that Larrionda had to be very attentive: every small distraction could became a big mistake. The high-speed of the game found the referee always well located and with the enough authority to keep the game under control. Larrionda used all his experience for this game, but he succeeded, and he did it well.
Larrionda had to show a lot of cards, but almost all of them were correct. He tried to let the game flow, but wasn´t always possible, there were too many frictions. In the most important action, he was OK, conceding a penalty to Nacional after a clear foul inside Peñarol area. After that, he sent-off Nacional attacker Garcia, for making hostile gestures to Peñarol fans.
In every "superderbis", it´s normal to have hard actions, frictions, diving. Referees have to be awake and knowing what are this kind of games about. Larrionda could have booked even more, and was accused of not conceding a penalty to Peñarol during the 1st half. It wasn´t very clear, at least for me.
