Muniz Fernandez tried to keep all colored cards in his pocket tonight. He almost succeeded but in order to protect players he should have shown more... There were quit a lot of fouls and a few nasty ones as well. Cesar was lucky though, nothing bad happened, players accepted his authority.
Some fouls were results of wild actions, some were accidents by tired players. It's a thing you can see everywhere on the fields in Europe at the end of this month. There have been to many matches. It's not good for football, players are getting tired and become easy victims of silly injuries.
The good thing about this referee is that he tried to continue play as much as he could. He kept the ball rolling. He seemed to be strong and in good health condition and was outrunning everybody else 0n the field.
All together this referee didn't make any big mistake. This kind of match is probably not a big thing compared with matches in the Primera Division. While he is slowly climbing the international ladder, I'll expect Muniz Fernandez to receive more important matches soon.
This match was not very entertaining. NEC does not have much international experience and seemed to be impressed by the Spurs from the beginning. Tottenham were the better team, they deserved this win.
