The City of Zaporizhya celebrated 238-th anniversary on a matchday. Home team Metallurg had promiced to make a gift for fellow-citizen by beating their guests Metallist from Kharkiv. So did it. Another surprise was presented by UEFA - top-referee Lubos Michel had been chosen to take control of a game.
The Head of Ukrainian Referee committee and his predecessor were match officials and looked after Michel`s work. He didn`t disappoint them. Lubos Michel acted confidently acccordig to the rules and the atmosphere of the game. His whistle sounded only after tough fouls. The only three bookings (1 for arguing) seemed to be legitimate.
The only debateable moment happened in a stoppage time. Marko Devic (Metallist) fell in a box after a slight contact with Metallurg`s defender and began to pledge for a penalty. Michel let the game continue and ignored that incident. He didn`t award a penalty-kick for guests and didn`t book forward for simulation.
