Peru 1 - 1 Argentina
WC 2010 qualifiers - S. America · 2008-09-10 Referee: Carlos Amarilla

Nothing new

Bad, bad, bad

Amarilla likes pretending he´s a very strict referee by gesturing, but he doesn´t protect the fair play and usually allows violence. During this game, his calls weren´t all bad but he didn´t book properly or with enough severity. Solano kicked Gago from behind when the Argentinian clearly had controlled the ball, which should have meant a direct red to the Peruvian captain; Amarilla didn´t do anything. Appart from that, there were three or four actions that should have deserved cards, but nothing happened. What else? Amarilla didn´t see a penalty for Peru. Too much? No... it was Amarilla.

Also

Nothing new, not only about the referee but also about Argentina. This team is playing a soporific and ineffective football, even having excellent players such as Messi, Riquelme, Tevez, Agüero, Mascherano, Gago, Demichelis ... Brazil is also playing terrible. The rest of South-American teams should take advantage of this, because we don´t know when the two continental giants are going to wake up.
