The game was frustrating for both sides, for the Germans because they just couldn't score that one goal, for the Polish because the Germans finally did. From the moment winger David Odonkor came on for defender Arne Friedrich the German game got more aggressive and incisive. Yet it took them a barrage of shots on goal - including two shots on the crossbar in quick succession - to finally get the one ball in the back of the net. By that time the Polish were one player down and they were playing in stoppage time.
