His leniency in the first ten minutes worked well. Both teams committed a lot of fouls, even a few bookable ones, but Maillet knew they must have been nervous and he let it go for a while.

Ghana player Agogo went down on his way to the goal. From one angle it looked like a badly performed dive, but from another angle it wa a foul by Kalabane thus a penalty. But shouldn't a foul like that be penalized with a red? Kalabane didn't even get booked. Then again: it wasn't really a bad foul.

Ghana has a lot of good players, but they don't all play together as a team. Guinee has mediocre players who still managed to score. Many passes and shots by both teams went wide.
