Hamburger SV 3 - 0 Rennes
UEFA Cup 2007 - 2008 group stage · 2007-11-29 Referee: Mark Clattenburg

Much better than in Amsterdam

Clattenburg

This was easy match for him . He controled every move and he showed just two yellow cards. He awarded a penalty in extra-time, but I 'm sure that every referee would not have awarded it after just a little contact and in that situation in extra-time. Specially good was his assistant Sharp when he allowed action for the second HSV goal. The assistants didn't miss anything as opposed in the match Clattengurg officiated in Amsterdam. Yellow card in the 45th minute worthy of every compliment. De Jong from HSV run away from the wall, before the free kick was taken, and the ball hit him. Clattenburg showed De Jong yellow. It is not very often that in a match we saw a situation when a referee books because a player runs from the wall before the sign is given.

Match

HSV absoluetly deserve their win and Rennes didn't show why they are in the top of La Championnat. Rafael van der Vaart is a player for a top club in Europe and if he stays in Hamburg, they are one of favorites for the UEFA cup.
