Tonight he wasn't bad at all, but that was because of the players, not that they behaved themselves - they dived and kicked and went out for revenge and Vassaras did not do much about it - but it never really got out of hand.
Vassaras was quick to book, probably to make a point. Completely the opposite of Peter Frojdfeldt's style 2 days ago. But that yellow was not a warning after all. Many a kick, arm in the face and step on a hand went unnoticed and when the Portuguese went out for revenge, Vassaras turned his head. He just can't deal with chaos.
Portuguese players dive, Vassaras knows that and he was keen to not let them get away with it. Apparently he didn't know that the Czechs are even better divers (he should read our match reports), at least three times they fooled him.
It was system versus stars and the stars won, but only just
