Ajax 2 - 1 Sparta Prague
Champions League 2005-2006 group stage · 2005-11-22 Referee: Valentin Ivanov

Wave

One

Give the visitors a penalty. Have all the Dutch players yell at you, the whole stadium yell at you, have newspaper writers and television panels discuss your move and even have the coach or at least the Ajax manager sacked (they're not doing well at the moment).

Two

Wave it off. The 2 minutes were really extra, the Czechs simply didn't earn a draw. So go on with the match for another second than finish it. The euphoric mood of the evening (Ajax goes to the next round) will make everyone forget what happened.

Because

One could argue that both decisions are cowardly, If the referee gives a penalty he's a coward because he should have been inspired by the mood of the game. If he doesnt give a penalty he's a coward because he's afraid of the consequences. My guess is that internationally renowned and highly acclaimed referee Ivanov waved it off because he can.

Asleep

The other 91 minutes were a piece of cake for the Russian referee, nothing happened. Ivanov, who isn't a prolific booker in the first place, didn't have to show yellow it all. Probably, your reviwer isn't sure because he fell asleep for a while during the match.
