This neglecting of fouls was sad, because PSV's best player Afellay was bodychecked early in the game and had to leave the match within the first half hour. The CSKA attacker, Berezutski, was not even booked. Proença also forgot to book da Costa (PSV) after he hit the head of CSKA player Zhirkov.
Players started to notice that Proença was easily fooled which started the diving theater in full swing. Sad again, because the match deserved better. Both teams were playing to win and better referee decisions would have resulted in more football fun. Often also Proença decided to give advantage after a comitted foul, but after noticing the advantage was not there he still should have decided to give a free kick for the initial foul.
There were numerous occasions to do better, but strange enough Proença only booked twice. Rahimic for instance deserved a red card when he deliberatly stept on the arm of Perez. Dudu (CSKA) also deserved red when he tackled Farfan. The game itself was quite entertaining. There were a lot of efforts on both goals. The game could have ended in sixsix, but at the end PSV scored twice and CSKA once.
