Poland 1 - 0 Northern Ireland
Euro 2016 group stage · 2016-06-12 Referee: Ovidiu Alin Hategan

A successful baptism of fire

REf and ars

Hategan had a very good game, but there was a blemish throughout the encounter. Like Kassai before, he ignored the clear directive to penalise players and their team for "one-handed" throw-ins. The polish right full-back, Piszczek is a serial sinner in this matter, and he does it recklessly and blatantly (1, 2', 9', 34', 41', 73', to mention the more obvious cases). It was especially troubling, as there were two of the kind in the first two minutes, but the ref. let him get away with it. Otherwise, he had a very good game, apart from robbing each team of an opportunity to get advantage, as he whistled for a free-kick (Poland were robbed in the 44th minute, while Northern Ireland - in the 85th). Ar1, Sovre, accompanies Mr. Hategan, probably since his first steps on the international stage, while ar2, Greghore, has been in the trio since 2013. Both ars made some mistakes; Mr. Sovre - a bit too many.
