Germany 2 - 2 Cameroon
friendly · 2014-06-01 Referee: Damir Skomina

Slow in terms of reaction to changing character of play

No reaction to fouls

5'' Kroos hits Mbia by walking on the top of his foot. No whistle, which started the trouble. 10'' Mbia retaliates by fouling Kroos and walks on his ankle slightly, long after the whistle goes. Skomina needed to book both, but lectures for 20 seconds about moral standards (bloody bla). Players go on fouling, a prime example for bad judgement. 13'' Next foul by Mbia on Kroos, book him for goodness sake! 15'' The next player who fouls on Cameroon side, goes into the book. 18'' Handball by Mbia - still no card to him, why? He could be off by now. Avoiding blatant cards is asking for trouble. 21'' Deliberate handball by Reus, another lecture, but no card. Book again, friendly doesn't mean you turn a blind eye to infractions.

And offside...

Two close offside calls against Germany in half one which looked almost onsidish. To even it out, Podolski was offside on the 2-1 run to the goal. But what struck me more was the sheer ignorance off the physical play in half one. Give him Portugal against Netherlands (see Ivanov 2006) and you'll have a civil war by the end of the first half. Below expectations for me.
