Bayern Munich 0 - 4 Real Madrid
Champions League 2013 - 2014 1/2 final · 2014-04-29 Referee: Pedro Proença

I expected more of him...

Where was his clear line?

In the first fifteen minutes, the tone is set for the match. Proenca lacked clear signs, he talked things down and let provocations happen around him without doing much about it. Time wasting wasn't his problem, players provoking each other and all he had to offer was nodding and smiling to everyone. Dante got a quick yellow for a borderline tackling to red, but Pepe, Mandzukic and Ramos could have easily been booked for unsporting behaviour. Ribery slapped an opponent out of frustration and desperation overrode the Bayern nerves. Should have been a sending off.

The result saved him

With 3-0 after 30 minutes, Bayern were broken and their possible strife for misconduct eased up in the second half. But this was sheer luck and not Proenca's doing. Real Madrid looked aggressive and much more eager to win this. Bayern was like an old cat lying in front of the oven and couldn't be bothered to get really going - Real was four goals better on the night and deserved to win in this way.
