Come to think of it: why are refs so lenient this tournament? Way too lenient. I'm all for a let's-see-what-happens policy but only executed by the best and always considering the kind of player who fouls. This does not include Skomina and certainly not Samaras. Any referee worth his salt would have had his eye on the Greek forward the moment he entered the pitch.

Because when you don't book a player like Samaras (not very good, frustrated and with a mean streak) for a bad foul, he will just do it again. Thus Samaras stepped on an ankle from behind, just because he could. His second bookable offence. And then he scored (while fouling again).

Kuipers and Stark were sent home for not excluding a player, Skomina should start packing as well.

This was the second quarter-final with a team in it that hardly played. Isn't that why they have qualifiers before a tournament? To filter out the lesser teams? Rhetorical questions of course and I've got another one: shouldn't there be some entertainment value in a European Championship quarter-final? How come Greece takes part? Germany had a 71% possession. Reminding us again how boring football can be.
