First Yelow Card

Skomina gave Cardozo the first yellow card of the match for the challenge from behind which did catch the player. It was correct, despite what the commentators might have said.

Penalty

Great run from Ashley Cole and the only thing that can be said about the challenge is that it was careless so it's a penalty. It wasn't reckless, and the player didn't use "excessive force" but it was careless. The decision from Skomina was correct.

Double Yellow = Maxi Pereira

Pereira received his first yellow for dissent after the penalty which was correct because he was yelling and screaming at the referee. His second yellow was for a reckless challenge in the middle of the pitch which was worthy of at least a yellow card. I believe Skomina got both yellows absolutely right.

The first half was full of events: Penalty, red card, 6 yellows but the second half just a yellow card and that's all.

The match

It was a nice match to see to be honest! I really enoyed watching it. And, full prompts to Benfica for playing a positive attacking match away from home.

Overall

The entire officiating crew did a good job in my opinion. There really isn't anything anyone can argue about. Assistants were good and thumbs up to the referees once again. WELL DONE!
