The general policy was to let go as much as possible which was the usual approach. Not so good was to ignore a French tackling from behind (32'') where yellow was needed and the ellbow check on Schurrle (40'') where he gave advantage to the French and waved "Play on". He failed to book Boateng for a tactical foul and gave yellow instead to Mexes for a mere soft shirt-pulling. The offside decisions were close, but correct and in terms of game management the team worked quite effectively together. The control was okay but not terrific - not the best Tagliavento I have seen.
