Niger 0 - 1 Morocco
African Nations Cup 2012 group stage · 2012-01-31 Referee: Hamada Nampiandraza

The youngest AFCON referee ever

Match

More or less senseless. The situation in Group C was clear, Gabon and Tunisia with 6 points, Morocco and Niger with 0 points each. So it was a boring match with only some moments of tension. The first half was terrible.

Calls

The majority of the fouls he gave were correctly seen. There were naturally a few fouls which did not really exist, but they were only minor mistakes. Moreover, the yellow cards he issued were very adequate, the first yellow against a Niger player was dark, could have been red. Nampiandraza had some problems with throw-in decisions, there were some mistakes, furthermore, he missed a handball which would have led to a promising goal attempt for Morocco. The advantage rule was brilliantly applied whenever it was possible. We have to emphasize the performance of this assistant referee 2.

Assistant Referees + 4th Official

Nampiandraza was assisted by Jason Damoo from SEY and Aden Range from KEN. Néant Alioum functioned as fourth official and completed the extremely young team. Range had many difficult offside situations to solve, he made everything correct. There was a big chance for Maâzou (Niger) in minute 36', very hard to see, correct that he did not raise his flag. Then the goal: there were contrary movements as well, but it was perfectly done by Range as well. It was level, perhaps even clear onside, but it was a very high pace, there were many strikers whom the ball could have reached, therefore, it was really a decisive and brilliant call. No way that the defenders protested for this, Nampiandraza cautioned one player for complaints about this superb call.
