Santos FC 0 - 4 Barcelona
Club World Cup 2011 final · 2011-12-18 Referee: Ravshan Irmatov

Too many finals

0-4

The result was absolutely ok in this height. Santos had one chance to score but Valdes showed a brilliant save.

Irmatov

The full appointment was made up by Ravshan Irmatov, Abdukhamidullo Rasulov, Bakhadyr Kochkarov and as supporting team Yuichi Nishimura and Toru Sagara. Rasulov did not join the WC 2010, but the other four officials were without any doubt the best in South Africa last year. Today, nobody of them had any problems, Irmatov booked four players which was absolutely justified, perhaps he missed a penalty around the 10th minute, but FIFA's new knack not to show any replays on close decisions did not allow us to have a clear judgement, I rather think that he was right as the Barcelona striker Thiago fell very easily.

Too many finals (?)

It was his fourth big final, his second CWC final. FIFA knows him by hard, we know him. If you have an Irmatov in your referee roster, you have to appoint him for the final, otherwise you are stupid. The best solution would have been not to appoint him at all, as there are 10 other officials who have chances for the next World Cup who could have been appointed, e.g. Alireza Faghani or Nawaf Shukrallah.
