Calls

Mostly good. The cards he issued all went against the Ecuadorians but they were totally justified. There were some troubles in 45+1 when Ayovi pushed Veron a bit, Buitrago solved that with a yellow card to Ayovi. The replays showed that it was a good decision, but there is still an aspect I do not understand..(see following paragraph). Some wrong offsides but overall his foul detection was ok, except one situation prior to Ecuador's goal in 90+2. Preceding this foul there was a hard duel, to my mind the Ecuadorian played both, ball and player, but unfortunately, he touched the player before the ball, this means it was probably a foul, no match decisive mistake, but a mistake you cannot ignore.

Language barriers? WHY?

It is paradoxical. In UEFA zone, nearly every official has to speak another language in the pitch with the players. Many different languages are the reason. But at least, they are talkative, some refs are even too talkative.. However, I had the impression that Buitrago did not say any word in the pitch, he made his show when showing cards (the way he shows them into the air was funny...), looked at the protesting players for 10 seconds and he seemed to have been incapable of talking, and the thing which annoys me: it is his mother tongue! But obviously, that is his style which I hate honestly speaking.
