The Final

sudden cloud burst

When Tovic touched the ball with his hand as the last man before Babel reached the goal and Skomina only showed him a yellow card, I'd really like to think this was because he saw Tovic slip due to the puddles on the field after a sudden cloud burst. I'd like to think Skomina was lenient.

penalty

I'd like to think Skomina didn't book Tovic at all - when he fouled on Babel in the box, resulting in a penalty which Babel missed - because Tovic already had a booking, his team was 3-0 behind in a final, they lost a man and the fourth goal was only a matter of minutes. Again it was leniency that made Skomina decide, I hope.

Beerens

And I like to think Skomina didn't show Beerens a red card for giving Rucovina a push, because the match was nearly finished, the Dutch (and Beerens) were ready to party and Rucovina was the one who got Drenthe his yellow card by rolling over a few meters after a non-foul in the first half.

if

If this is all true, Damir Skomina is a great referee. If it's not, he'd better be quiet about it.
But still: a ref who books for protesting, but not for a hands-ball that keeps a player from scoring.....
