Belgium had one point more than Turkey before the match. If Turkey had drawn and Belgium had lost, both would have had15 points but as the direct comparison of both teams counts, Turkey would have been in the play-offs. For Germany there were only two reasons to win: First, they wanted to establish the record of winning all the 10 qualifier matches which NED did not manage yesterday, but the second reason was even more important: if Germany had lost, everyone in Turkey and the Turkish here would have said that Germany had kicked them out...the opposite happened..Mesut
