There was some faking, and you need a Portuguese ref to see through all the pain and misery for what it's worth.
Gomes made no mistakes in this match, its just that it was such a bad match, so many missed passes, bad timings, hopelessly bad defending, crosses going nowhere and you just can't be a really good referee in a bad match. How is a ref to keep his concentration when no one else is?

Rizzoly or Brych, the elite, often get relatively easy matches. Or Clattenburg, not even elite, who had it really easy with Real vs Ajax earlier this week. But Europa League matches are almost never easy. If only because the players aren't very good. These Wisla guys kick their opponents when they don't know what to do. And they often have no clue. There were a lot of elbows and one guy (Bajrami, Twente) even handled the ball three times. Simply because his timing was wrong.
