Cüneyt Cakir portrayed good knowledge and application of the laws of the game and could differentiate between what was a foul and what wasn't. His approach for this particular encounter was to let the game flow as much as he possibly could. There were countless instances in this match where you saw Cakir's arms aloft signalling to the team with the ball to play on. Such was the tempo of this match, Cakir only administered two yellow cards. It was a very easy-going match for Cakir as both Cuba and Korea Republic were not using dirty tactics and were playing very nice and fluid football. This allowed Cakir to stay on the peripheral and not to be at the centre of attention. Cakir showed excellent fitness and was always close to play. He also did very well to keep up with counter attacks.
There was one key event in this match for Cakir to address. In the 50th minute he awarded Korea Republic a penalty. The Cuban goalscorer (CUB #9) brought down KOR #19. At first glance it looked very harsh indeed. However, further replays showed there was contact but very minimum contact. KOR #19 also went down very easily. We can accept this decision from Cakir.
Apart from that situation it was a very easy game to handle for Cakir and he put in a very satisfying performance.
