In school we always bet the results of CL and EL, my bet was a goalless draw. I know my team, I know how they play in South Eastern Europe: bad. In Tel-Aviv one year ago in CL, it was a 0-0 as well, so it was a safe bet. However, the most entertaining were some odds: after 10 minutes, the TV screen went black, the consequence of a power blackout in Cluj or Bucuresti, one of both. After that, I learnt something new from the stupid commentator, i.e. the names of the ARs: Dimitris Vasileiadis and Leonidas Saraidaris...it has to be Dimitris Saraidaris and Leonidas Vasileiadis, latter's flag was defective in the 2nd half and Koukoulakis had to sprint for a new one...you see, everything was criss-cross in a boring match which should have been won by Schalke. If Steaua really is the so-called most dangerous opponent of S04, "we" need not be too afraid, they only had one attempt (see below), Schalke could have made it two times..
The general perfomance was pretty good. Nearly all the fouls he gave were correctly seen, cards were ok as well although he missed one to Schalke's 18 year old Draxler. He solved some trouble in the midfield by showing one yellow to both teams. The ARs had only two offsides to flag for, but one was very important and well seen by Saraidaris.
...on the one hand wrong corner kicks (they are really dangerous!) and on the other hand a wrong added time. Of course, it is the opinion of the referee, but to my mind it also counts to his perfomance that the additional time was at least 2 minutes too high. The 4th Official announced 4 minutes in a match with only small injuries and no real interruptions..and no goals either. However, what did Koukoulakis do? In 94:30, he awarded a free-kick about 22 metres away from Schalke's goal. There were many opportunities to finish the match but obviously, the Greek referees wanted to gave us more of this "superb" match...anyway, the free kick was luckily about 3 metres too high, it was the only goal attempt of Steaua - after 95 minutes..
