Dortmund 1 - 1 Arsenal
Champions League 2011-2012 group stage · 2011-09-13 Referee: Gianluca Rocchi

13 minutes and 49 seconds

No foul for 13 minutes and 49 seconds

I have not to say more, he simply did very well in the first half. There were many situations where he could have whistled, but he showed a lenient style and the best thing - to my mind - was that he often gave very good advantages, even in offside situations, that kept the match quick.

General calls

Was it an easy match? In my opinion, a CL match never is easy. It is moreover the question inhowfar Rocchi influenced the difficulty of the match, I think he did a lot. His lenient but consistent style was on the spot. Both assistant referees did everything correctly. The shown cards were correct, even though the booking of Sagna for wasting time was quite harsh as was not faster and not slower than the others before.

Rocchi and his bad reputation

Many people said in the last weeks: Blom, Duhamel, Rocchi - they should be demoted and are not good enough for Elite. Well, perhaps that fits for the first two names concerning their appointments and latest perfomances (Duhamel was good I think, but in "bad" matches), but that does not fit for Rocchi. I saw him live in Schalke Arena twice when he oversaw S04-PSG and S04-Benfica. Of course, some things had to be improved, but he did. I was not content with his perfomance in Cyprus, but this perfomance and last season's ones in CL and partly in EL were enough for Elite, he showed that he is able to cope with pressure and that his way or progress is developing...And sorry, with regard to what I said before I cannot stand and understand comments like "I expected more in an easy match", it was very well done and I must admit that I do not know where these 1-1 mistakes were..no idea

The kits.....

I really think that adidas seems to have had the urge of self-fulfillment; the black kit is ok, the green...well ok as well, fit for some matches yesterday (Porto-Shakhtar e.g.), but the purple one?? The guy who designed that should be fired...;)
