Germany 3 - 2 Brazil
friendly · 2011-08-10 Referee: Viktor Kassai

Again..

Calls, style and my own opinion

We know Kassai as referee who lets the game flow, who rarely whistles and if, then he normally refuses to caution players immediately. This style could be observed as well yesterday and led to a couple of mistakes. First, the penaltys: Without any doubt, both ones influenced the match in a positive way with regard to tension etc. The first one for Germany was given after Germany played a high-speed goal attempt and finally, a German fell in the box. Kassai immediately whistled and pointed on the penalty spot. After several replays, I have to say the following: there is a contact with the Brazilian's knee and Kroos' foot. However, it is obvious that Kroos is glad about this contact and falls. In this case, I would have preferred no penalty. To my mind, a wrong decision although a contact may always indicate a foul, in this case, it was far away from that (in my opinion). The second one: Lahm thought there was the ball but suddenly, Maicon appeared and was touched by him. He did not want it, but it was a clear penalty. Apart from this, Mr Vamos got every offside decision wrong, Eros was just perfect. There were apart from that many mistakes in the evaluation of midfield duels. Sometimes he was very pedantic in this point, sometimes very lenient. In a nutshell: his line was not clear. I always said it and never understood why Kassai is thus highly regarded by FIFA, UEFA but WR's members as well. Again, as it was the case in Wembley and Durban: his style led to partial blindness. He had no feeling when he must give a free-kick and when to give a yellow card. It was just a friendly, but his style annoys me a bit. Moreover, he was very far away from the action.

Match

Well, from minute 1, the match was under total German control. The Brazilians disappointed in every field. There were 11 German players who created or built a team, their opponents were Neymar (who could not show the reason for 45 mio..), Pato, Ralf, Ganso et al. But no team.
