Penalties

Penalty-1: It was Min9 when Luque(ARG,#20) has left himself to the ground in EYG penalty area, and Strömbergsson correctly considered that was a dive and gave him a YC. But in Min40, that was again #20 on the ground in EYG penalty area. And, Ref. has whistled penalty for this time. At first, I thought, it was %100 penalty, because camera that shows players behind proofs that there seem to be a contact of EYG player with his pink turf to #20. But then, whenever I watched in paralell angel. I simulated pink turf and saw there is at least 15cm between leg with pink turf and #20. Argentinian dug his toe into the his own turf to cause himself to get to ground. It was an other dive. That may be quite hard for Strömbergsson too see position in behind angle, but AR should have urged. Game-changing decision, and it looks like wrong. Penalty-2: It was Min64 when again #20 has controlled the ball and attacking to EGY side, and he was clipped down and referee whistled another penalty. There is an obvious uncontrolled contact of EGY player to him. But #20 is a simulation man. He tried everything to get that penalty. He slowed down to allow the defender to catch up and run into him from behind. But it is penalty no doubt. AR has superb let the game flow as onside before that goal attempt. Penalty-3: This time another uncontrolled foul is made to EYG side in penalty area. It is normally a foul in midfield, if so it is a penalty. After these three penalties, both teams left away everything, everbody was on the ground, expecting referee to call penalty for their side. Ridiculous.

Rest of calls

I will divide Strömbergsson's calls in two categories as early calls and late calls. In early call till Min 70, he was superb I think. He was very good at foul detection and ARs made critical correct flags. Then, whenever tense has increased, ref. team have lost their concentration to game and started to make mistakes. There were one critical wrong offside decision for both side in late calls by ARs. Strömbergsson is a good ref, but not a tense manager.

There was another chaos at Min 86 when he booked #4 of whom has been booked before. Most probably he has been directing someone else around there. For Eypgtian side also it is shown there was a YC by TV. But, I couldnt see it at FIFA official website. There was another misunderstanding. His card management wasnt that shining, he seem to be on the edge of losing all control of the match.
