Very Good for 50 minutes, still not bad for the rest

I was quite impressed by the start...

After a great disappointment by the South Corean Cha in the first match, I was quite pleasantly surprised by the standard of refereeing shown by the Mexican girl. She was very close to the action, took comprehensible decisions and meant business to both sides. She had a good measurement what was still okay and when she had to intervene for foul play. Positive was also her advantage play and the courage to come back to a freekick when the advantage did not turn out to be a real one.

Doubts after 50 minutes

In the second half, she seemed to tumble a little bit. She missed a few challenges in midfield where a freekick would have been the right means to show that she's still in control. She needed to caution the first japanese player in minute 54 for a late tackling in midfield where she did not even whistle for a foul. She gave a justified yellow two minutes later for a tackling from behind, but missed another one for a deliberate handball about two metres outside the area. The second yellow after 71 minutes was more a tacical means to calm things down which came a little late. What I missed, was a policy leading up towards card management - i.e. a reprimand when things got a little bit too tough but not yet calling for the book.

The cooperation as a team

The assistants had not so much to do on the night, but the cooperation with the central referee worked effectively when it was necessary. I found that the referee recovered towards the end and overall performed very well.
