Final in the rain

God

Sevilla forward Adriano thanked God when he scored, so did Espanyol sider Riera. God seemed to like both teams until the second half when He, capricious as ever, started favouring Sevilla. Even substituting the captain for a player named Jesus Maria La Cruz didn't seem to help the team from Barcelona. Moises (!) was sent off for a second booking and even though it took Sevilla an hour to score again, clearly Espanyol players had fallen out of His grace and had to fight against the odds.
But then their luck turned. Sevilla wasn't doing their best at all and instead of scoring 3-1, Espanyol equalized. And everyone knows what happens to the team that equalizes against all odds in extra time: they win.
But they didn't.
Sevilla wins the Cup for a second time in a row. Maybe not better players, but they must be better prayers.

I

As a neutral spectator I must say I have seen more exciting matches than this one. Many more and it was thanks to Espanyol that the match was worth staying up for.
