u17

and was it wordt it?

Well it was funny to see how the North Koreans were practicing the pretend-you're-hurt-badly stalling technique. They weren't that good at it yet, the referee added 5 minutes extra time to the second half, but they're getting there. Like the way Mourinho showed us to compensate a lack of quality with cunning trickery.
The quality lay with the Dutch team, or so they say, but these are kids, really, and no one knows if these guys will ever get to the top. (some are already at the top, having been bought by Arsenal and Chelsea before they were even born)

the ref

It was a slow match with lots of mistakes, like most u17 matches, so the ref - also a young guy, learning the ropes - had time enough to think about his decisions, and that was what he sometimes did. He ran a lot, was a little too close to the action perhaps, he had to stop the game many times.
Off-side calls were good, the ref saw a couple of throw ins executed wrongly and deemed it necessary to teach them boys how to do it properly and, like I said, he didn't fall for the North Korean stalling.

match

Both teams are their continent's champions, but both teams may have a completely different idea about this tournament. The Dutch are here as individuals hoping to impress some spotter form a big team, the North Koreans just have to win or they will be publicly humiliated when they get back home. Or shot.
