Red card

Didi Ibrahim Toure deserve a red card? Absolutely. But if you're going to give him a red card for that little stupid hit in the face, then the Bunyodkor player should also be sent off for retaliating but Toma took the easy way out and only sent off the player from the team that was leading 2-0 at the time.

Penalty but no red

Absolutely ridicoulus. I know for a fact that in Asia, Iranian teams get screwed all the time by refereeing whether there is an Arab referee or not (Except from when Irmatov or Nishimura officiate) but after the wrong red card, Toma was looking for a way to make up for his mistake so he called a penalty on a breakaway and only gave the defender a yellow card. Was the penalty right? NO but denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity is a red not yellow. And for the penalty itself: The striker grabbed the defenders jersey, then fell to the ground.

AFC

The referee department of AFC is quite horrible. Anywhere else in the world the appointments are done based on performances and they are given to referees in the week before the match but in Asia a referee knows about all of his group stage appointments before the first match which means no matter how bad of an assessment they have, they will still officiate that match. I have seen articles on many Persian/ Arabic/ Japanese websites and their Federation websites that talks about an appointment on Matchday 6 when matches on Matchday 2 haven't happened yet.
