There he goes again: quick stepping, doing that useless trick of his; he passes player one, he passes player two, runs fifty metres and takes his time. Player one comes back with a mate and blocks his way, player two attacks him again, Ronaldo looses the ball. All the while Ronaldo's teammates can't do anything but patiently wait and watch Ronaldo waste precious time and an opportunity, then try to get the ball back. This happened at least five times. And this is the player of the year?
There he goes, it's him and three defenders. I don't know how he did it, but after a second two defenders lie on the grass and the third runs behind him, too late to get to his legs. Kaka' scores. In slow-motion we see two defenders in a comedy routine colliding and being in the way of the third. And this is not the player of the year?
Actually, Wayne Rooney turned out to be at least the player of the match, even better than Kaka' who's virtuousity never seems to last the whole 90 minutes.
He was good, the Greek. Again he lost it a little bit when he booked Kaka' and Giggs for yelling at each other, and again he made a few little mistakes, but overall Vassaras made himself invisible this time. He didn't need to whistle that often and didn't ruin the game by stopping it for petty reasons. This was a match in which he did not do a lot of things and that is good. But remember: Kyros Vassaras doesn't like players protesting his decisions.
