William Collum, a scottish teacher, kept control during the whole game. He warned the players if necessary. The yellow cards were well given. The foul detection was good, there were only some phantom fouls. Bulgarian players fell down too easy sometimes and Collum whistled too quickly. But in general this was not a game to speak about the referee.
In my opinion Collum should be promoted to Elite category soon. Is he even the better referee than Craig Thomson? I don't know. But I'm sure we will see Collum again in Champions League matches and even at a international tournament, why not. But as Ray said it yesterday concerning Carlos Velasco Carballo: it's not forbidden to smile. Collum should relax a little bit more. The he could become a really great referee.
