Bayern Munich 1 - 3 Dortmund
Bundesliga · 2011-02-26 Referee: Manuel Gräfe

Have we seen the new champion or have we seen the new champion

the referee and his team

Manuel Grafe had the honour of being in charge of the match, an Elite-referee from the German capital. At his sides: Markus Hacker (FIFA-assistant ref) and Bastian Dankert, Bundesliga-referee Felix Zwayer as 4th official. In general, Grafe easily controlled the match but only at first glance..

big mistakes

There were three big mistakes:
1. In minute 57' he oversaw a clear, a really clear, penalty for Dortmund after Lahm had pulled Groakreutz.
2. Assistant referee Bastian Dankert from Rostock stole Bayern a goal that would have been the equalizer (2-2). It was pretty concise but at the end, the phrase "benefit of the doubt" should have applied in this situation.
3. Although this seems to be a minor mistake, I nonetheless list it under the big ones: Schweinsteiger committed 9 (!!!) fouls without any reaction from Grafe. The Bayern sider could do everything on the pitch, only the last action implied a yellow card so that he misses next match. One could sometimes call it "fool's license"!

the match itself

Dortmund's performance was a paramount example of how to stop the FC Robben. They played with an enormous self-confidence and did not show any respect. If Robben is stopped at the right time, Bayern has no chance! That must be the message for Internazionale and the coming teams in CL.

Some words on the self-described best team in Germany

Apart from the fact that Dortmund play an extra-ordinary season, Bayern's president Uli Hoeness teased Dortmund last week, that they - only the big FC Bayern Munich - would be the best team in Germany. This club and their supporters finally cannot accept that there is something that is better. In the club rules, there are two things (among others) enshrined: 1. The FC Bayern MUST be the winner of Bundesliga in every season. 2. The FC Bayern must be characterized by arrogance. Unbelievable.
