In the 9th minute PSV's defender Da Costa received a warning instead of a booking for a somewhat rash sliding on Adebayor. Da Costa went on to play a solid match from there, not needing any more fouls. The crowd applauded the exhausted defender when he was substituted by Xiang Sun in the second half. Sun by the way is the first Chinese ever to appear in a Champions League match. The only booking of the match was for Senderos, who made an aggressive move on a PSV player trying to make up for the goal that was just scored against Arsenal.

The build-up to the one goal in this match was a rather clumsy affair. A lucky combination with Kone landed at Mendez's feet and he went on to score quite nicely from there.

Ah yes, the Scandinavian officials made one mistake: a throw-in was awarded to the wrong team in the 86th minute. It should have gone to PSV.
