It's not often you see two teams with such law abiding players. They hardly touched each other, but when they accidentally did they helped the other stand up and even apologized. That is why the first yellow card Itturalde Gonzalez showed (Edu, 57 th minute) came as a small shock and was unnessesary. You could hear the players think: Yellow? Why? He didn't do anything. The booking set the standard for the rest of the match: from then on little offences were punished. Little ones, not the (only) bigger one by Brazilian Edu on Dembele which would have been his second. It wasn't that kind of match, but it also was a flaw in the Spanish referee's otherwise consitently officiated match..
So was it a penalty for the Turkish team, was it a foul by AZ sider De Zeeuw? The Turks probably think so, but considering the fact that hardly anythinhg happend without Itturalde Gonzalez noticing it, I'm sure not awarding a penalty was something he felt sure about.
Maybe the audience should have been red-carded. Not only did they whistle every time an the AZ sider played (which they did for 60% of the match) they olso showed theyr contempt for Turkish players who made a mistake. One cannot but conclude that the Turkish audience does't like football, it is only interested in results.
