The game

This game is one of those finals you hope to finish fast. Both teams waiting, no big opportunities to see, a lot of fouls...but everyone will say ...it's normal for a final...can be normal but is bad for the show.

Carballo's nomination

I was against his nomination. For 2 reasons: a) I don't like the referees that in 1 or 2 seasons reach the Elite and go to a final very quickly. Is bad for the referee and can be bad for the match; b) Two teams with a Latin way of playing so the correct referee would be someone with a British style (UEFA did this in the semis ...why they went in an adventure know?...a bit political this nomination).
But of course I recognize quality and charisma in Carballo, he is a referee capable of finals, but not all finals.

Carballo's negative aspects

21' missed a foul for Braga in frontal position near the box. Was a foul and debatable YC. He just said play-on. The guy who was fouled was Viana and things were already a bit tense between the ref and that player.
30' Missed a red card for Silvio. In a nasty and reckless foul from behind and with possibility of injury he just showed the YC. Ok it was in the middle of the match but he had enough reasons to pull out the red.
55' In a moment Hulk was going to the goal Carballo stopped the match to score a previous foul to Porto, when Porto had the possession and a goal scoring opportunity.
72' Missed the second YC to Sapunaru. If he has criteria for one situation it's reasonable he uses that same criteria in the others. Here he chose to be blind.

And the positive stuff

I liked the style and the positioning, he is well adapted to this 6 ref teams way. Apart from that he was regular, just some mistakes happening. Also tried to stop the game as litlle as he could, especially in the final 10 minutes he was very good.

My title says it all. The best team in the EL was the winner and no doubt about the value and quality. The referee is one of the revelations of this season. I had expectations for this final but the 3 teams disappointed me.
