This was probably one of the easiest game Hansson has ever refereed in his career. He gave two yellow cards (one to each team) and he was right. He whistled every now and then, but I hardly saw Hansson during the game because both teams played fairly and therefore Hansson didn't have to do much. The only mistake I noticed was a mistaken offside-call from assistant-referee Stefan Wittberg.
Hansson had a comfortable night in Munich, not much to do for him. It was similar at the World Cup in South Africa. He was there but only to put this damn board in the air to announce the replacements, no games for him at the World Cup. After the World Cup, he had a qualifier and three group stage matches in Champions League like every Elite referee, but look at the teams he got: Sheriff (Moldova), Zilina, Spartak Moskva, Partizan Belgrad, Basel... Not the best teams, and the match tonight was no exception because Bayern had already qualified for the next round and Basel only had minimal chances to qualify, so the match wasn't really important. It seems UEFA prefers other refs than Hansson to do the hot stuff. You could say: Hansson is part of the elite of Europe's referees but not part of the top of the elite refs... I'm not sure at all if UEFA would choose him for EURO 2012. It will be interesting to see if Hansson gets next year his first CL quarter final or if he is back in the Europa League...
